Staff here at Piitoayis are very sad to not be able to see everyone at school for the foreseeable future. We hope everyone is staying healthy and safe.
We are moving on from volleyball but sticking with net sports. For the next month or so we are moving into badminton. Watch the birdie!
Happy New Year Piitoayis! This month we will be focusing on some net sports and all their varieties. For example, we will be starting with volleyball as the big unit but start out with basic skills and playing Newcombe ball, which is more of a catch and throw game using the nets and volleyball. Once we learn the skills we will be playing proper volleyball in no time! The 19/20 school year is underway and we have already completed a soccer unit and have been working through some cricket and hockey this month and a bit!We are well under way on our air unit! Learning lots about lift, drag, thrust, and gravity. Soon we will have a chance to make some planes of our own!
Things have been great since we started up again! We have the same schedule except we will now be focusing mores on material to ready the students for the end of year PAT's. We have started our social studies government unit and will begin our science unit on air as well!Today was an ok day at Piitoayis 5/6. We worked on our persuasive writing in the morning. Then in the afternoon we started our final science project on the buffalo. Two posters that show what we know! Finally, we ended the day by practicing our song for the Winter Solstice concert.Today was a great day! We really made progress on our persuasive writing. A unique feature of our day was the introduction of Brain Blasters, a unique way of getting more movement into our classroom!Today we completed a Scavenger hunt of Canada! Clues were given regarding different places on the Canadian map and students had to use maps or an atlas to complete the task. The kids had fun with this one especially since the first 3 finished received a reward! We then continued our persuasive writing (Some on the Colin Kaepernick issue, some have moved on to whether or not kids should be paid for good grades). Finally we worked on our buffalo science unit we've been at for a while now. |
